The
Women’s Executive Council presented its 35th Annual Women’s
Achievement Awards on Wednesday, October 12. Fawn Germer,
best selling author of Hard Won Wisdom and Mustang Sallies
was the keynote speaker. The 2005 scholarship recipients
are: Widnette Vassor, Health Services Administration at
UCF; Daria Hayes, Finance at UCF; Heidi White, Psychology
at UCF; Janice Standage, Exceptional Education at UCF; Erin
Langsdorf, Mathematics, Minors in Physics and Astronomy
at UCF. Cheryl Newberry, Criminal Justice at UCF.
The

Ballet; Business: Linda Stokes, CEO & President PRISM
International, Inc.; Professional: Melanie Fernandez,
Partner & Director of Assurance Services for Cross, Fernandez
& Riley, LLP; Community Service/Volunteerism: Rachel
Craig-Chaderton, Partner deBeaubien, Knight, Simmons, Mantzaris
& Neal, LLP, Education: Margaret Linnane, Executive
Director of Philanthropy Center Rollins College; Government:
Mildred Fernandez, Orange County Commissioner, District
3; Central Florida Women of Year: Julia Frey, Partner,
Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, PA.
The
Women’s Executive Council has been involved in the development
of Downtown Orlando business district. WEC was formed in
1972 to create and foster involvement of women in executive
positions. All proceeds benefit the council’s scholarship
endowment fund. Scholarships are awarded yearly at WEC’s
Annual Women’s Achievement Awards ceremony in October. A
