The
Women’s Executive Council presented its 36th Annual Women’s
Achievement Awards on Wednesday, September 27.
Wendi Chioji, WESH Channel 2 anchor was the keynote speaker.
The 2006 scholarship recipients are: Deborah Cumbus,
Bachelors in Communication, Rollins College – Hamilton Holt.
Evelyn Tonn, Bachelors in Political Science, UCF.Catherine
Plummer,
Bachelors in Elementary Education, UCF. Angela Taylor,
Masters in Communicative Disorders, UCF. Carrie Brooks,
Bachelors in Theology, UCF.

2006 Women’s Achievement Awards Recipients are: Arts & Culture:
Margot Knight, President & CEO- United Arts of Central Florida.
Business: Theodora Uniken Venema, Principal, Downtown
Brokers LLC. Professional: Carmenza Gonzalez, Vice
President, International Business Development, Metro Orlando
Economic Development Commission. Communications/Media:
Linda Bird, Regional Vice President, Clear Channel Communications.
Community Service/Volunteerism: Sibille Pritchard, President,
Hart Communications. Education: Sara Trollinger,
Founder & President, House of Hope. Government: Val
Demings, Deputy Chief, Orlando Police Department. Central
Florida Women of Year: Anne Chinoda, President & CEO,
Florida Blood Centers.
The
Women’s Executive Council has been involved in the development
of Downtown Orlando business district. WEC was formed in
1972 to create and foster involvement of women in executive
positions. All proceeds benefit the council’s scholarship
endowment fund. Scholarships are awarded yearly at WEC’s
Annual Women’s Achievement Awards ceremony in October. A
