October 2004: Women’s Executive Council awards scholarships to students, honors women in the community

The Women’s Executive Council presented its 34th Annual Women’s Achievement Awards on Wednesday, October 6. Erika Lee, Morning Show Host from MIX 105.1 was our keynote speaker. 

The 2004 scholarship recipients are: Liliana Argueta, Nursing at Valencia Community College; Andrea Matlin, Early Childhood Education at UCF; Jill Norburn, Educational Leadership Doctorate at UCF; Lindsey Bravo, Public Relations & Advertising at UCF; Rachel Imerese, Psychology at UCF. 

The 2004 Women’s Achievement Awards Recipients are:  Arts & Culture: Rita Lowndes, Chair of the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Festival; Business: Yvonne Loggins-Coleman, President of LCB International; Professional: Lynn Rose, CFO & Secretary, CNL Securities Corp and CNL Financial Group; Communications & Media: Erica Lee, Mix 105.1 Morning Show Host, Infinity Broadcasting Corporation; Community Service / Volunteerism: Wendy Anderson, Attorney Alvarez, Sambol, Winthrope & Madsen, P.A.; Education: Dr. Pat Maher, Principal Cherokee School; Government: Charlotte Stimson, Executive Secretary & Human Resource Coordinator for Earl K. Wood, Orange County Tax Collector; Downtown Woman of the Year: Linda Stewart, Orange County Commissioner, District 4.

The Women’s Executive Council has been involved in the development of Downtown Orlando business district. WEC was formed in 1972 to create and foster involvement of women in executive positions. All proceeds benefit the council’s scholarship endowment fund. Scholarships are awarded yearly at WEC’s Annual Women’s Achievement Awards ceremony in October.
